SMPLSTC CBD’s Conor Denman sat down with Nikki Nelsen from OC Weekly to talk about getting started in the CBD industry. The OC Weekly article touches on Conor’s start in the nicotine vape industry with his company Traditional Juice back in 2011.
The article then goes on to discuss how Conor discovered CBD. The benefits of CBD were first demonstrated to Conor through his parents. CBD was able to help his mother with her Fibromyalgia and aide his father to reduce inflammation after his bout with prostate cancer. That was enough to incentivize Conor to try CBD for himself. While playing golf with his father, his Dad gave him a CBD Oil Tincture and suggested he give it a try. As an anxious golfer, he was willing to try something to calm him down and allow him to focus on his shot. The result was unbelievably positive, and Conor ended up playing one of the best golf games of his life.
After seeing the benefits of CBD firsthand, Conor teamed up with a colleague that he knew from the Vape industry named KC Gates and his brother-in-law Clayton Jones. They set out to find a way to create CBD products that were easy to use and locally made. Setting up shop in Costa Mesa California, SMPLSTC CBD began doing business in 2018.
Although the initial inception of the idea was underway, the team still had some hurdles to overcome. They started doing business out of Conor’s apartment to keep overhead costs low and began implementing their brand strategies. They used their knowledge of the nicotine-based vape industry in order to devise a vape-able CBD solution that tasted great and provided the best combination of Full-Spectrum CBD available.
Now, a little under 2 years later, Conor and his partners in SMPLSTC CBD were able to open up their own storefront to sell their CBD tinctures, vape cartridges, and pre-rolls. They were also able to reach out to some CBD distributors in order to increase their online presence.
